DO YOU WANT TO BE HEALED?

As I was in church last Sunday, I was impressed upon chronic diseases when Pastor mentioned about the story of the man paralysed for 38 years. Jesus asked him: Do you want to be healed? Pastor said sometimes people are not healed because they don't want to get healed. Maybe if they got healed, they couldn't be on social welfare or they wouldn't obtain the sympathy of others. But Pastor said don't give excuses not to be healed now. Don't hold on to your sickness for Jesus has come to heal. In the beginning of the year, Pastor declared that God is restoring health back to those with chronic condition. He said this healing was for those who have prayed and waited for a breakthrough for many years. They were probably on the verge of giving up.

I kind of understand how people with chronic diseases felt as I too waited many years for a dream to come to pass. Maybe deep down they were afraid to get healed. After all they were so comfortable in their bondage for years. What was going to happen after they got their breakthrough? How are they going to live their lives from then on? Would they be able to adjust to being totally free from that chronic pain? The fear of the unknown just kept them in their bondage even though God has given the word that this is the year of His restoration. He will restore health to those with chronic conditions. Jeremiah 30:17 says 'I will restore you to health and heal your wounds...'

I also had another thought about how it will all happen in an instant when God touches your life and your breakthrough will come. I recall Pastor mentioned the testimony of this preacher whose daughter lost her mind. They prayed and waited but nothing happened in 7 years. One day when he was on his way to visit his daughter, he was feeling so discouraged thinking about how long she had been like this. Then he heard God's voice saying 'Praise Me'. He was reluctant but eventually he praised God anyway. When he was nearing her room he heard her cry out 'I want my Daddy!' She was healed in an instant.

This testimony again reinforced the fact that just one touch of God will change things in a moment. Yet some people with chronic conditions may not even be ready to encounter this moment. They may not know what to do after that moment. God wants me to share with them what will happen after that so they won't have to be afraid. And actually if they are tuned into to God's voice, they will be informed beforehand of how suddenly their miracle would come. They wouldn't be caught in such a big surprise then. They would be expectant, on the constant lookout for this miracle.

Maybe this is the reason why we are not seeing more instant healings. It could be that God is more than willing to give us instant healing but He knows we probably couldn't take it. Because it might be too sudden for us and if we didn't know how to stand on faith on this healing, the devil might bring back those lying symptoms. Hence a process of healing manifestation might be more enduring in this case. Like believing for a progression in thirty, sixty and hundredfold healing. Maybe God is building our faith through the process so we would know how to reject those lying symptoms when they come.
