SOMEONE PAID THE PRICE

The other day we watched this Disney movie called 'Inside Out'. A girl named Riley is born in Minnesota and within her mind, five manifestations of her emotions—Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, and Anger—come to life. The emotions live in Headquarters, Riley's conscious mind, where they influence Riley's actions and memories via a control console. Her new memories are housed in colored orbs, which are sent into storage at the end of every waking period. The most important or "core" memories are housed in a hub in Headquarters and power five "islands", each of which reflects a different aspect of Riley's personality. Joy acts as the dominant emotion to keep Riley in a happy state, but she and the others do not understand Sadness's purpose.

One day Riley's parents moved to San Francisco and she got to readjust to a new home and new school. Alone in the new school, she missed her old friends. Sadness accidentally caused Ridley to cry in front of her teacher and friends on the first day of school, producing a sad core memory. Joy insisted that none of Riley's core memories should be sad so she tried to dispose that memory before it entered into the central hub. In her tussle with Sadness, she, Sadness, and the core memories are sucked out of Headquarters through the memory tube leading to the rest of Riley's mind. They end up in the labyrinthine storage area of Riley's long term memory and set out to return to Headquarters.

Joy and Sadness find Bing Bong, Riley's childhood imaginary friend, who is desperate to reconnect with her. He tells them they can get to Headquarters by riding the Train of Thought. After exploring different areas of Riley's mind, the three eventually catch the train, but it derails when another personality island falls. Joy and Bing Bong try to use Bing Bong's discarded wagon rocket to get out of the Memory Dump, but after several failed attempts, Bing Bong realizes their combined weight is too much and jumps out and fades away, allowing Joy to escape. Well, eventually Joy and Sadness made it back to the headquarters in time.

I just want to highlight the scene which touched me a lot. It was when Joy and Bing Bong fell into the Memory Dump. Joy tried several times to climb out of the Dump but it was futile. Bing Bong dejectedly said 'We are stuck here and forgotten forever.' But Joy refused to give up. That was when she thought of using the discarded wagon rocket to get out of the Dump. They tried the first time but there wasn't enough power to bring them over so the rocket crashed into the Dump. They got back and their feet and tried again. They nearly made it but unfortunately they crashed into the Dump again. This time Joy was really discouraged. But Bing Bong said 'We can try again.'

I believe Bing Bong already made up his mind to jump out of the wagon so that Joy could make it to the island. When Joy finally made it, she shouted happily but as she turned around, she realised Bing Bong didn't make it. When she looked down, she saw him cheering 'We made it!' down at the Dump. Slowly Bing Bong faded away. Joy wiped her tears away and set out to make her way back to the headquarters. After all that Bing Bong has done for her, she had to make it back.

This reminded me of how Jesus went to the cross, suffered all the punishment I deserved, sacrificed his life for me so that I could make it. So that I could have the abundant life that He came to give. I was so touched at the scene that I cried. I told myself I will never allow Jesus to fade away, to be forgotten in my life. I will tell as many people about Jesus and what He has done for me so that His name will be glorified. I was in the pits, feeling stuck and forgotten by the world when Jesus came, lifted me form the pits and set me on a high place. Grace always reminds me that the price was paid so that I could enjoy all of God's blessings. Don't let Jesus sacrifice in vain.

  1. THE KING JAMES MYTH---BY STEVE FINNELL

The translation myth perpetuated by King James only advocates, as well as others, is that fifteen hundred years after the apostle John wrote the last book of the New Testament God authorized King James to write the only trustworthy English version of the Bible. Is the 1611 King James version the only version God has approved? [King James only advocates do not read the original 1611 King James Version. The King James Bible found in most bookstores is actually the 1769 King James Version.]

Is the true gospel plan of salvation found only in the so-called 1611 King James Version ? No, it is not.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting. (KJV)

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. (NASB)

John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his only Son so that anyone who believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. (The Living Bible-Paraphrased)

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. (KJV)

Mark 16:16 He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved; but he who has disbelieved shall be condemned. (NASB)

Mark 16:16 Those who believe and are baptized will be saved. But those who refuse to believe will be condemned. (The Living Bible-Paraphrased)

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. (KJV)

Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; (NASB)

Romans 10:9 For if you tell others with your own mouth that Jesus Christ is your Lord, and believe in your own heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved. (The Living Bible-Paraphrased)

Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. (KJV)

Acts 2:38 Peter said to them, "Repent, and each of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (NASB)

Acts 2:38 And Peter replied, "Each one of you must turn from sin, return to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; then you shall also receive the gift, the Holy Spirit. (The Living Bible-Paraphrased)

These three translations all have the same gospel message, they all have the same terms for pardon. THE TERMS FOR PARDON: Believe, confess, repent, and be immersed in water.

There are over sixty English translation that teach God's terms for pardon.

Note: The irony of the 1611 King James only advocates is that they do not even believe their own translation. Most of them deny that water baptism is essential in order to be saved.

The remaining question is what Scripture teaches that the 1611 King James version was the only translation approved by God?
